Sewing Into Business

 

Our next Sewing into Business course will be:

Wednesdays and Fridays 9.30-3pm, from June 3rd – July 17th 2026

Designed for complete beginners or those looking to refresh basic skills, the course guides learners through essential techniques in each discipline while building confidence and creativity at a comfortable pace. Across the sessions, students will learn how to handle yarns, fabrics, tools, and equipment safely and effectively. In sewing, learners will be introduced to hand-stitching, basic machine use, fabric cutting, and finishing methods suitable for straightforward craft pieces. Course materials such as but not limited to cloth, thread and trims are provided. Students are welcome to provide their own material and embellishments should they wish.

This course is only open to people who are not working. It is free to learners on means tested benefits or low incomes.

To enrol, please call the WEA on 0300 303 3464 and quote course reference Q00025131, or come to the Centre on Friday, 22nd May at 12 noon. You will need proof of your ID, your address, and your benefit status, as well as your National Insurance number. Please note that registrations will be on a first come, first served basis.
