Coronavirus – Centre Update

17 March 2020

Last updated: 09:00 Friday 16th July 2021

From 19th July 2021, England will be in Step 4 of the Government’s “roadmap” out of lockdown, with most restrictions lifted. You can see more details here.

Visiting the Centre

Our office is open 9.30am-4pm. You can call us on 0161 872 7795 or 07842528967, or email info@stjohnscentre.org.

We will be maintaining our COVID safety measures until further notice. This is because Old Trafford currently has high rates of COVID, and is home to many people who are particularly vulnerable to infection. We will expect everyone who visits the Centre to sanitise their hands regularly, and wear a face covering when moving around the Centre (unless they are exempt). Our one-way system will remain in operation. We will continue to clean the Centre throughout the day, maintain good ventilation, and provide safety screens if they are needed.

COVID Help

We are continuing to be a Trafford Community Response Hub, providing food parcels, shopping, prescription collections, wellbeing calls and other support. This includes support for people who have been told to isolate.

If you need help, advice or support because of Coronavirus, please call this free number:

0808 278 7803

You can also collect lateral flow tests from the Centre on Monday-Friday between 10am-1.45pm.

Centre Activities

Our daytime exercise classes have reopened. Please see our Exercise Classes page for more information.

Most of our evening groups will remain closed until further notice, except for Women-only Step Aerobics and Shin’s Taekwondo Academy.

Courses

Our courses have finished for the summer holidays, and will start again in September.

Details of courses for September will be added to our website as we get them. Go to our homepage and put your email in the “Subscribe” box for regular email updates, or contact the Centre to leave us your details or get more information.

Hall Hire

If you are interested in hiring the hall or one of our other rooms, please contact Diane Browne on 0161 872 7795 or diane@stjohnscentre.org. Please check whether there are still restrictions on your planned activity before you book.

Food

The Bread and Butter Thing is operating as normal from St John’s Church (next to the Centre) on Mondays.

Food bank vouchers will be issued through the Helpline number above.

Please see our Food Donations page if you would like to donate food or household supplies for us to distribute to people in need.

Volunteering

We need volunteers to help with both our COVID support work and our other work, including teaching English, cooking and office work. If you would like to volunteer, please email elaine@stjohnscentre.org
