Volunteering

The Centre is very lucky have some excellent volunteers who give their time to support its activities.

We have been able to provide volunteering opportunities to people in the following areas:

  • Teaching and learner support, including ESOL, Gardening, Sewing and Computing
  • Cooking for events and in our regular St John’s Chefs group; and
  • Children and Young People’s activities, including crèche, Stay and Play and holiday activities.

We have also been involved with local schools, enabling young people to undertake their work experience. In addition, we have worked with student placements who need teaching hours as part of their courses. Our Board of Directors is made up of volunteers who give of their time cheerfully and freely.

Thanks to funding from the Big Lottery’s Reaching Communities fund, we now have a paid Volunteer Coordinator who is working to develop volunteering further at the Centre in the future.
